Pre-commissioning Underway at TVI Pacific's 30.66% owned TVIRD Balabag Gold and Silver

April 23, 2021

CALGARY, AB, April 23, 2021 /CNW/ - TVI Pacific Inc. (TSXV: TVI) (OTC Pink: TVIPF) ("TVI" or "the Company") is pleased to provide a construction update with respect to the Balabag gold and silver project ("Balabag").  Balabag is owned 100% by TVI Resource Development Phils., Inc. ("TVIRD"), a Philippines corporation in which TVI holds a 30.66% interest, and is located in Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines.

Highlights :

  • All remaining major equipment, including the elution/strip solution heater and heat exchanger as well as the carbon regeneration kiln for the elution circuit and gold room, has arrived to site;

  • All components of the plant are now undergoing pre-commissioning;

  • Ore is now being fed from low grade run of mine ore stockpile on a test basis in preparation for the commencement of continuous milling operations;

  • Tailings deposition is expected to occur by June 2021 through Stage 1 of the tailings storage facility.

Balabag Gold-Silver Project:

Pre-commissioning, including debugging of the Mill, is well underway and includes:

  • Pre-commissioning of the grinding circuit with ore;

  • Pre-commissioning of the flotation concentrate leach and carbon-in-leach ("CIL") circuits.

Installation of the grinding circuit mill motors and liners of the SAG and ball mills has been completed in addition to hydrotesting of the Merrill Crowe.  Ore is now being fed from low grade run of mine ("ROM") ore stockpile on a test basis in preparation for the commencement of continuous milling operations.

The last remaining major equipment, including the elution/strip solution heater and heat exchanger as well as the carbon regeneration kiln for the elution circuit and gold room, has arrived to site and pre-commissioning of the elution circuit and the acid wash column for the gold room has begun.  Other infrastructure such as the power plant, water supply, the assay and metallurgical laboratory, explosives magazine, helipad, warehouse and shops, offices, accommodation facilities, mine roads and other access roads has been constructed.

Construction of the earth-filled tailings storage facility ("TSF") is proceeding. The TSF is being constructed in stages to accommodate progressively increasing resources as they are defined.  It is expected that tailings deposition in the first phase, Stage 1, will commence by June 2021 with the commissioning and operation of the processing plant.

Mining operations are proceeding and there are now approximately 45,000 tonnes of ore on the ROM ore stockpile, in-pit stockpile, and crushed ore stockpile.  Much of the ore is low to marginal grade which was mined to expose the higher-grade mineralized resource during waste stripping and bench forming and is being used as test ore for commissioning the plant.   The stockpiles have an average grade of 1.05 g/t gold and 27.63 g/t silver.

Current Balabag project development photos can be found on the Company website at TVIPacific.com.

"We have entered a most exciting phase of the Balabag project with the commencement of pre-commissioning works in preparation for continuous milling operations.  Completion of Stage 1 of the TSF continues to be the critical path and a key focus at this time.  We remain confident of the ability of our team to bring this vision to life after many years of planning and considerable effort.", said Mr. Cliff James, Chairman and CEO of TVI and Chairman of TVIRD.
